Marriage Certificate apostille in Florida

Marrying abroad, applying for a spousal visa, or claiming a foreign benefit? You'll likely need an apostilled marriage certificate. A Florida notary cannot copy-certify a marriage record — but we apostille the certified copy so it holds up in another country.

// the florida rule

Can a Florida notary certify a copy of a marriage certificate?

No — but here's what we can do.

No — a marriage certificate (and the related marriage license) is a vital/public record certified only by the clerk of court or vital-records office that issued it. A notary cannot attest to a copy of it. You get a certified copy from the issuing clerk, and we apostille that certified copy for international use.

// what we can do

We can't copy-certify a marriage certificate — but we apostille it for use abroad.

Need your marriage certificate recognized in another country?

An apostille is the only thing that makes a foreign government accept it. We handle the right authority — state or federal — track it end-to-end, and add a certified translation when the destination country needs one.

// how it works

From certified copy to apostille.

01

Get the certified copy

Order the agency-certified copy (vital-records office, court clerk, or registrar) — we'll tell you exactly which one and how.

02

We authenticate it

We submit it to the correct authority — the Florida Secretary of State for state documents, or the U.S. Department of State for federal ones.

03

Accepted abroad

You get the apostilled document back, optionally with a certified translation, ready for the destination country. We track it the whole way.

Marriage Certificate FAQ.

My spouse's home country wants our marriage certificate apostilled and translated.

That's a routine package for us: we apostille the certified marriage certificate through the Florida Secretary of State and add a certified translation (Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian). One coordinated handoff so nothing gets rejected at the consulate.

We married in another state — can you still help?

Yes. An out-of-state marriage certificate is apostilled by that state's authority; we manage the submission and return mailing so you're not coordinating with an agency across the country.
