Certify a copy of your Driver's License

Need a notarized copy of your Florida driver's license for a rental application, an out-of-state employer, or an insurance claim? A Florida notary can attest that a photocopy is a true copy of the original — as long as you bring the real card. We do it on the spot, anywhere in Palm Beach County.

// the florida rule

Can a Florida notary certify a copy of a driver's license?

Yes — with the original present.

Yes. A driver's license is a personal identity document, not a record kept in a public registry, so it falls squarely inside a Florida notary's power to attest to photocopies. The one condition is that you hand us the actual, unaltered license — we copy it ourselves and certify that copy. We can never certify a copy you bring already made, because we have to compare it to the original in front of us.

Driver's License FAQ.

Why does the original license have to be present?

Florida law lets a notary attest only to a photocopy the notary has compared against the original. So we make the copy from your physical license at the appointment — we can't certify a scan or photo you email ahead.

Will a certified copy work if my license is expired?

We can still certify a true copy of an expired license (the certification only states the copy matches the original), but the agency receiving it may require a current ID separately. Tell us the purpose and we'll flag it.
