Certify a copy of your Diploma & Degree Certificate
Applying for a job, license, or graduate program abroad and asked for a notarized copy of your diploma? A Florida notary can certify a true copy of a diploma or degree certificate. And if it's headed overseas, we can apostille it in the same visit.
// the florida rule
Can a Florida notary certify a copy of a diploma & degree certificate?
Yes — with the original present.
Yes. A diploma is a personal achievement document issued to you, not a public record held by a government registry, so a Florida notary may attest to a photocopy of the original. (This is different from a school transcript — see that page — which the registrar must certify and which a notary cannot copy-certify.) Bring the original diploma and we certify our copy of it.

Diploma & Degree Certificate FAQ.
Is a notarized copy of my diploma enough for use in another country?
Often the country wants the diploma apostilled, not just notarized. We certify the copy and then apostille it through the Florida Secretary of State so it's accepted abroad. Tell us the destination country and we'll confirm.
What about my transcript — can you certify that too?
A transcript is different: it's an official school record, so the registrar certifies it and a notary cannot copy-certify it. We can still apostille a registrar-certified transcript. See our school-transcript page.
